The Embassy’s mandate is as follows: To implement national foreign policy with a focus on * Investment promotion and technology sourcing; * Strengthen political, economic and technical cooperation and fund mobilization within countries of accreditation; * Promotion of Rwanda’s good image in the jurisdiction and contribution/attendance to international meetings and advocate for Rwanda’s interests; * To contribute to diaspora mobilization within the jurisdiction China embassy is accredited in the following countries: People’s Republic of China, Philippines, Pakistan, Thailand, Vietnam and North Korea.

Visa regulation
The Embassy authorizes an entry visa for a maximum duration of 3 months and multiple entry. An extension of this period can be applied for at the Immigration Service in Kigali.
The dossier of the visa application is made up of:
a letter requesting a visa addressed to the Embassy
a form for the visa application filled in twice
a valid passport or travel document
two passport photos
350 Yuan RMB.

NB: In view of the bilateral agreements, the Nationals of the following Countries may visit Rwanda without visa for a period up to 90 days: USA, Germany, Canada, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Uganda, Mauritius, South Africa, Kenya, Great Britain, Sweden, Hong Kong and Burundi.
The visitor’s visa should not used for employment.

New passport requirements
Fill 1 application form
Attach 2 passport size photographs with white background.
Application letter addressed to the director general of immigration and Emigration in Kigali.
Applicant must be a resident within the Embassy’s area of coverage.
Valid documents confirming your residence in one of the countries covered by the Embassy,i.e. work permits, pupils pass or business visa.
Copy of old Passport
Please note that the application form must be filled in capital letters and your signature must be affixed inside the box at the bottom of the application form.
Passport fee is payable on submission.
Please note that children are no longer endorsed in their parent's passports but are also allowed to acquire their own.

Other Administrative Certificates
Consular services of the embassy are competent for all matters concerning the civil status of families and individuals. As such, even marriages can be formally legalised.
The Embassy also issues the following certificates:
