Business / Organization Brief Description :

SNV began its operation is Rwanda in 1980, initially as a volunteer organisation, but more recently as a not-for-profit organisation. SNV works in alignment with Rwanda's development agenda to expand opportunities for socio-economic development. Operations are managed from our office located in Kigali.

Organisation

We deliver advisory services to local organisations throughout the country, helping to realize the national development goals in three sectors: Agriculture, Renewable Energy and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. SNV's core business is the strengthening of the capacities of local organizations in the private and public sectors. We provide advisory services, support knowledge networking, and support advocacy by linking practice and policy. Drawing on SNVs international network of qualified specialists, we apply market-based solutions to reducing poverty and promoting good governance.

SNV is increasingly channelling its services through local organisations in order to localise capacity development services, and to upscale our activities. SNV Rwanda currently has a staff of 24 working from our office in Kigali.

We contribute to solving some of the leading problems facing the world today by sharing our specialist expertise in three sectors: Agriculture, Renewable Energy, and Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. We focus on finding local solutions to global challenges and sowing the seeds of lasting change.

SNV Rwanda receives external funding from different sources to implement its programmes. We look for funders that share our values and believe in the strengthening local capacities for inclusive and sustainable development. Recent funders include: Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Winrock, Ministry of Local Government of Rwanda, UNICEF, TNO, Aqua Virunga, African Development Bank.
