This Company is a subsidiary of StarTimes Group, which is based in Beijing China with experience of more than twenty years in the broadcasting TV sector. Being the strongest system integrator, core DTV technology provider and network operator, the Company also manufactures digital broadcasting equipment including Set Top Boxes, integrated digital receivers and a diversity of software for broadcasting TV operation.
StarTimes Group, a technology based company established in 1988 in China and with partners include Cisco, Conax, ST, Ericsson and Harmonic, is a pioneer and key player in digital television solution and operator in China and Africa with over 7 million subscribers. We are currently operating in more than 8 African countries including Nigeria, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Guinea, Central Africa, Burundi and growing fast.
STAR Media in Rwanda introduce and offer in Rwanda the first digital Television system that receives digital television programs and meanwhile provide affordable broadcasting media services to enable all people of Rwanda to have an access to the developmental technology. We are deploying a unique and advanced technology which requires no dish to allow our Digital TV to be offered to subscribers to access to digital signal of good quality and at an affordable price.
The digital broadcasting services offered by STAR Media are in line with the Rwanda Government vision which aimed at digitalizing the broadcast media, and make contributions will help to transform Rwanda society from analogue to digital broadcasting and meet the envisaged government vision of the year 2012. The digitalization process requires upgrading of domestic television receivers' sets in order to receive digital television program.
