As its name indicates, COMPAGNIE GENERALE BANK (SA COGEBANQUE acronym) is a Rwandan commercial banks which was created 13 November 1997 with legal status as "Anonymous Society and approved by the National Bank of Rwanda, 17 July 1999.

At the time of its creation, had as main shareholder COGEBANQUE COGEAR. The majority of promoters of the Bank are Rwandans who had as goal to create a Group "Bank Insurance". At its creation, its headquarters are located in the building of "Telecom House" to KACYIRU.

Currently, its headquarters is located in the building CENTENERY HOUSE in the business district. To meet the requirements of the National Bank of Rwanda, COGEBANQUE gradually increased its capital to reach RWF 5,000,000,000 (Five Billion RWF) currently in partnership with BIO of Belgium, the USA and Shorecap AFRICINVEST of Tunisia. At the opening of its doors, COGEBANQUE SA began with three agencies.

Today, COGEBANQUE has a total of 17 banking outlets offering full banking services to our customers.
